Singapore’s Changi Airport Group, the world's best airport operator, has emerged as a top contender to modernize the Francisco Bangoy International Airport (DIA) in a ₱12.9-billion Public–Private Partnership (PPP) project. The move is backed by Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, who believes Changi's global expertise will transform the airport into a world-class gateway. The project, which also has proposals from the Filinvest and Gokongwei groups, aims to double the airport's capacity and boost Davao's role as a regional hub for trade and tourism.
