The Ambala unit of EDFC is studying a track doubling project (Sahnewal-New Khurja, ~400 km) due to near-capacity operations. The feasibility study is 80% complete. This expansion will benefit freight and potentially passenger train services. New terminals are planned, increasing freight movement.
